Steal the Pile

Steal the Pile is a free card game you can play in your browser. Flip a card and take a matching face-up pile from one to three computers. Race a 1.5-second window in Reflex, take turns in Classic or Quick, or play the shared daily Medium deal.

How to play Steal the Pile

  1. Pick 1, 2, or 3 computer opponents and Easy, Medium, or Hard. You sit at the bottom. Turns start with you and move clockwise. An empty draw pile is skipped, and that seat can still be stolen from. Easy, Medium, and Hard change how quickly computers react in Reflex. In Classic and Quick they always take the largest matching pile.
  2. Reflex is the default. When a flip matches at least one opponent pile, a 1.5 second window opens. Tap a matching pile, or tap STEAL to take the largest match. A matching opponent can take your face-up pile, including the card you just flipped. A false STEAL while the window is open skips your next flip. STEAL after the window does nothing.
  3. Classic and Quick are turn-based. Tap your draw pile to flip its top onto your face-up pile. One matching opponent pile is taken for you. If several match, tap the pile you want. Matching the card already on your own pile does nothing. The stealer flips again while their draw pile still has cards. Classic uses a 52-card deck. Quick uses 32 cards, ranks 7–A.
  4. Daily opens with ?daily=1. You face one Medium computer under Classic rules, and everyone gets the same deal for the whole UTC day. The result is your final pile size.

The most face-up cards wins when every draw pile is empty. Equal counts are a shared tie. Stats stay on this device: wins, losses, and ties by mode and difficulty, your biggest single steal, your best final pile, and the daily best for that UTC date.
