How to play Snake
The page opens in 90s: a 90-second score attack. Use the Classic / 90s / Daily control to switch — Classic has no clock and runs until you crash, and Daily plays the 90-second rules on the day’s shared UTC seed (same opening snake and the same food types and spots for everyone until the next midnight). Replay Daily as often as you like.
Press Start. The snake begins 3 long in the centre of a 17×17 board, heading right. Steer with the Arrow keys or WASD, or swipe on the board. On phones, a four-button pad under the board also works.
You cannot reverse straight back into yourself — a 180° turn is ignored. One quick turn is queued, so fast corners are not dropped.
Walls are solid and there are no obstacles. One life: hitting a wall or your own body ends the run. Moving into the cell your tail is leaving is safe, unless that step makes you grow.
One food item is on the board at a time: Normal (+1 length), Golden (+2 length), Speed (+1 length and 5 seconds of faster movement), and Bonus (+1 length). A new one appears as soon as you eat it.
The snake speeds up as you eat: level 1 moves every 180ms, then 150ms after 10 foods, 120ms after 20, 100ms after 35, and 85ms after 50, then a little faster every 15 foods after that, down to 60ms.
Normal food +10, Golden +50, Speed +100, Bonus +100, each multiplied by your combo and rounded. The combo counts foods eaten in a row and resets when 5 seconds pass without eating. 3 in a row is ×1.2, 5 is ×1.5, 10 is ×2, and 20 is ×3; below 3 is ×1. Classic, 90s, and Daily each keep a best score on this device, and Daily also keeps today’s best for the shared seed. The result card shows score, length, survival time, and max combo (the longest streak).
